Now that you've received your carefully customised Loan Agreement, you're going to want to make sure that there is no room for uncertainty about the loan, repayment, or security. So remember the following easy steps when you sign:

• The lender and the borrower (and any co-signer or surety, if applicable) should sign every page and at the end, in each other's presence (and in the presence of any witnesses, if witnesses are used).
• The signature page indicates where each party should sign above the description of their role or name.
• Remember to fill in the date and place of signature. Spaces have been provided for this on the signature page.
• If you make any handwritten changes before signing, each party should initial those changes in the margin.
• If witnesses are used, they should not be parties to the loan; each witness should sign only where indicated.
• Each witness should follow the same approach: sign where indicated on each page they witness, and sign in full on the signature page in the places provided.
• On the signature page, parties and witnesses should print their names below their signatures, in the spaces provided.
• Each party should retain a copy of the signed agreement, and the original should be kept in a safe place.

Once you've finished signing, keep the original in a safe place and ensure both parties know where to find it. Copies may be kept with your records, your bank, or your attorney as appropriate.
